About Annika Lantz-Andersson

Research interests
My research which is rooted in a sociocultural tradition has to do with social interaction the use of digital technology and what that implies for learning and education. My thesis project aimed at developing knowledge of educational software and learning. In this research the interest was in how students' interplay and learning in a computer-based environment was characterized by design qualities in educational software and by occurrences in the practice where the software was used. By focusing on students' collaborative activity the purpose was to describe the nature of the students' social interaction and activity, or more accurately what the students made relevant and how they framed the learning activity when they worked with educational software.

One of the research projects that I participated in earlier concerned students' information seeking, mostly on the web, for learning assignments where the general interest was to describe the how the pupils managed the sometimes immense tasks. The interest in this research was to study the coherence between differences in the quality of students' information seeking and the quality of their learning outcomes.

Teaching interests
I have a background as a teacher and have along with my research for the last years also worked with courses of Higher Education Studies in Pedagogy. I teach and supervise students in the Teacher Training Program and I also work as course-leader.

I give lectures concerning general pedagogic issues and issues connected to the field of my research.
